Amazing costumer support

PC Crate's customer support has proven to be some of the best I've encountered! I am still relatively fresh in the PC scene, so I made a pretty rookie mistake. It wasn't catastrophic, but definitely could've been a huge nuisance. And it seemed like something most companies wouldn't want to fix on their end. But after contacting support, there were more than happy to swiftly help and mend the issue I made for myself. 10/10 experience

Great for first time buyers!

I had a buddy help me pick the specs I needed for the gaming I wanted to do and then it all got shipped to me in about a week. It came with instructions on how to assemble it, but I would maybe have someone who knows this stuff on hand just incase you get stuck. The price was extremely reasonable for what I purchased and looks great!

Thank you for the kind words, David! We're happy to hear your experience with PC Crate has been a good one. We love that you had a friend to help! Just promise you wont forget about your friends over here at PCC if you ever need anything in the future! :) You can always reach us through our Discord server if you have any questions.

Hope you enjoy the new PC and happy gaming!

You don't say?

My criticism lies with the website itself. A couple points: "Never worry about compatibility!" No kidding. You only offer a limited set of AMD CPU's (which actually work better with AMD GPUs..), a single motherboard, 2 drive options, a single RAM type in various amounts, and 1 style of pc case (assuming the same, other than color..). For coolers, your base cpu fan is an "upgraded cooler", I guess all that means is something better than stock. My primary concern however is the "Bronze Authenticity (80)" plaque. So you're only 80% authentic? What's the other 20%? Random stuff you throw in? Reused parts you sell as new? You also don't offer a warranty on any build. Builder's insurance isn't a warranty.

Hey Anon! Thanks for stopping by, we're sorry you didn't find what you were looking for! It sounds like you might be in the market for something other than a PC Crate build kit, as it seems like you are looking for something different than what we offer. Even though you haven’t actually seen, used, or interacted with any of our products, I do want to take the time to respond to the points you made in an effort address any questions you or others reading this may have.

1. 'AMD CPUs run better with AMD GPUs'. Technically this is correct! However, in reality the difference between the two is not something you would even be able to notice when you are using your PC or playing a game. The main benefit of using all AMD parts is a technology that AMD calls “Smart Access Memory.” However, Nvidia GPUs actually have the same technology as well! It is just called “Resizable BAR.” While AMD claims that there is a slight performance boost due to SAM being more optimized with an AMD GPU, the difference is somewhere around 2% in SOME cases and is vastly outweighed by the much better overall experience you will find when owning an Nvidia GPU.

2. As far as the limited selection for other parts… We do this on purpose! We don't offer a vast array of different part options because our customers don't want us too. That can be confusing for those that are new to PCs so it is something that we have done very much on purpose.

3. “For coolers, your base cpu fan is an 'upgraded cooler', I guess all that means is something better than stock.”. Great job, that is exactly correct! It's very common for PC gamers to purchase an upgraded air cooler as it offers much better cooling performance than an included cooler would without being complicated as a liquid cooling solution.

4. “My primary concern however is the 'Bronze Authenticity (80)' plaque. So you're only 80% authentic? What's the other 20%? Random stuff you throw in? Reused parts you sell as new?”. It seems as though this part really confused you so I would be happy to break it down for you! The plaque that you are referring to has absolutely nothing to do with our products. If you were to hover your mouse over it, it would tell you exactly what it is for so you don’t have to bother typing out needless reviews for companies that you don’t know much about. All it means is that we don’t buy bot reviews. It means that over 80% of our reviews are from verified customers that have purchased something from us. And it looks like your review put us down lower than that 80%. I do appreciate you pointing this out though as we recently had to migrate the app that we use on our website to host reviews and didn't notice until you said something that the reviews we ported over to the new app from our customers didn't get verified. Rest assured, we are currently working with the developers to provide proof that all our reviews are legit and will have the gold badge shortly!

5. Last but not least, you said we dont offer any warranty. When we saw this it became very clear that you didn’t even bother reading the product page before leaving a needless review. If you look over the product details right below the pretty pictures, that section shows you what is included with every kit. At the bottom of that section you’ll see it says “Warranty: 2 year parts, included.” and links to the page that explains the terms of the warranty. (Link: https://buildpccrate.com/pages/return-build-day-coverage-policies). So we do in fact offer a warranty with all of our computers! And even better, we offer the unique “build day insurance” that you won’t find with other companies in the industry. It does cost extra, but we think that the protection that it offers for people that are new to PC building is well worth it!

Anon, if you look at the rest of our reviews, our customers are head over heels with how happy they are with our PCs! I think you just might not be the right customer for our product and that’s ok! We recommend heading over to one of the other major prebuilt gaming PC companies that will build it for you and treat you like a number in line when you contact them for help. It’s unfortunate that you left a review without reading the page or getting to know us, but we hope our response addresses your concerns.

The Best Memories of My Dad

I remember my first computer build like it was yesterday, though it was actually a few decades ago. Somehow Dad found the time to research everything and buy just the right parts. I don't know who was more excited the day we picked up all the parts. Back then there was a computer store on every corner but they're wasn't any online shopping. This was before Google or Amazon were even born!

We jumped right into the build, both of us taking turns installing different pieces. First the power supply, then the mother board, the floppy drive, the hard drive, RAM, sound card, video card, dialup modem. It probably only took us an hour but it was one hell of a fun hour. The joy we felt when we pushed that power button and it roared and beeped and whirred to life, if you could bottle that feeling ...

Dad has since passed on, and my 11 y/o son is a big fan of all things technology, especially tech that he can play a game on. I dearly wanted to recreate that moment I had with my dad, with my son. I now run my own IT company and work business owner's hours. So the time i do have away from work is precious, and I know just how difficult it can be to pick just the right parts for a PC build, and how time consuming and frustrating it can be to troubleshoot incompatibilities. I found PC Crate in November of '23 when looking for exactly what they sell; all the parts, all compatible, bundled into one nice package that fits perfectly under the Christmas tree.

Well, Christmas came, he opened the box and was full of glee! It wasn't long until just like with my dad, we had the dining room table covered in boxes and wires and screws and manuals and oh my! It was a fantastic time building that computer with my son! I truly hope he remembers that day at fondly as I did with my dad.

You may have noticed the date on the review narrative is different from the date it was actually posted. Well, I'm back for more fond memories. My son's computer has been working perfectly for the last year, and now he can't keep his sister off of his computer! It's time to do it again!

WOW, our team is so touched by your review! Thank you so much for sharing your story and thanks for choosing us to build your PCs and wonderful memories with!

Easy to customize, fun to build!

This was the first time I have ever built a computer, and after using a pretty crappy laptop for the past 6 years I was a little unsure about making the switch to a desktop, but this website made it super easy! After figuring out what exactly I wanted for my computer, selecting the changes was super easy. There were some hiccups in the ordering process however, though through no fault of the PC Crate cite itself, rather with Shopify, but the support team was more than helpful in informing me of the issue and helping me fix it.
The build itself was quite fun, and after realizing I needed another power cable plugged into the motherboard I got it all up and running, and it's the best computer I've ever used!
